Entwicklung von Lehr-/Lernmaterialien und Lehrerfortbildungen für den bilingualen Unterricht in
Politics, Economics & Culture
Im Rahmen des Projekts PolECulE wurde in Phase I (2015–2018) in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Hessischen Kultusministerium (HKM) ein Orientierungsrahmen für den bilingualen Politik- und Wirtschaftsunterricht entwickelt und mit ausgewählten Schulen erprobt. In der zweiten Phase des Projekts (2018–2021) sollen nun Lehr-/Lernmaterialien für den bilingualen Unterricht in Politics, Economics & Culture für alle Schulformen entwickelt, erprobt und veröffentlicht werden, um dem Mangel an geeigneten bilingualen Lehrmaterialien zu begegnen. Entsprechend sollen auch Lehrerfortbildungen in Kooperation mit der Goethe Lehrerakademie (GLA) konzipiert und durchgeführt werden. Auf diesem Wege sollen die im PolECulE-Orientierungsrahmen verankerten Kompetenzen – zusammengefasst in der „globalen Diskurskompetenz“ – auf Seiten der Schülerinnen und Schülern nachhaltig gefördert werden. Primäres Anliegen in Phase II sind demnach die inhaltliche Ausgestaltung, curriculare Implementierung und nachhaltige Verankerung des PolECulE-Orientierungsrahmens an allen weiterführenden Schulen Hessens und darüber hinaus. Mit diesem Anliegen wirkt das Projekt zum einen dem seitens der Lehrkräfte vielfach monierten Mangel an Unterrichtsmaterialien und Fortbildungen für den bilingualen Politik- und Wirtschaftsunterricht entgegen. Zum anderen trägt es zur didaktisch-methodischen Fortentwicklung des bilingualen Fachunterrichts bei.Development of Teaching Material and Teacher Training Seminars for Bilingual Classes in

In August 2015, PolECulE Phase I was launched at Goethe University Frankfurt in close cooperation with the Hessian Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and three partner schools. PolECulE concluded its first phase with a conceptual framework for bilingual teaching in Politics & Economics in June 2018. Furthermore, a first set of bilingual teaching materials was both developed and tested. With regard to the lack of teaching materials in Germany and beyond, PolECulE Phase II (2018–2021) intends to further develop, test, and publish a significant body of such materials for various types of schools. In this context, the institutionalization of teacher training seminars at Goethe Teacher Academy (GLA) will become essential so as to provide future teachers with the necessary skills for conducting bilingual lessons on the subject matter. In line with the competence model laid out in the conceptual framework of Phase I, these measures define the cornerstones for promoting ‘global discourse competence’ among future generations of young learners. PolECulE Phase II will place an emphasis on teaching materials, their integration in school, and their impact on the overall curriculum at secondary schools in the State of Hesse and beyond. It addresses the concerns of present and future teachers who deplore the lack of respective teaching materials and teacher training for bilingual classes in Politics & Economics. Furthermore, the project contributes to the growing body of research and development on didactics and methods in bilingual teaching.
