Apart from developing teaching materials and teacher training seminars, networking with the (international) research community is one of PolECulE’s core concerns.
Last November 2018, Subin Nijhawan presented his research and PolECulE at the 7th International Conference on Teaching English as a Foreign Language “Intercultural Language Education for Increased European Identity and Cohesion” taking place from November 9–10 at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Portugal and at the Third International Conference on Language Education and Testing “What a Feeling! Language Education and Emotions” from November 26–28 at the University of Antwerp in Belgium (https://www.uantwerpen.be/en/conferences/language-education-and-emotions/). The presentations were entitled “Trans-Foreign-Languaging for the Promotion of Global Discourse Competence in CLIL Classes in Politics & Economics” and “Finding the ‘Perfect Equilibrium of Emotional and Rational Learning’ in Bilingual Education in the Social Sciences: The Role of the L1”, respectively.
In spring of 2019, Subin Nijhawan held a presentation entitled “A CLIL Pedagogy for Global Sustainability and Citizenship Education: How the Global and the Local Fuse in the Bilingual Politics & Economics Classroom” at the conference “Educating the Global Citizen: International Perspectives on Foreign Language Teaching in the Digital Age” which took place at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich from March 26–28 (https://www.tefl.anglistik.uni-muenchen.de/conference-global-education/index.html). This was followed by the presentation “Auf der Suche nach dem „perfekten Gleichgewicht zwischen emotionalem und rationalem Lernen” – Wie die Sprache im bilingualen Politics & Economics Unterricht das politisch-ökonomische Denken beeinflusst” on April 5, 2019 at the conference “Politik und Sprache – Handlungsfelder politischer Bildung” organized by the Arbeitsgruppe Hermeneutische Politikdidaktik of the Gesellschaft für Politikdidaktik und politische Jugend- und Erwachsenenbildung (GPJE) in Potsdam.
Shortly, Subin Nijhawan will present his research and PolECulE in a presentation entitled “Translanguaging the Foreign? Three Different Methods of ‘Trans-Foreign-Languaging’” at the conference “The Various Guises of Translanguaging” on July 1, 2019 at the University of Ghent in Belgium (https://www.translanguaging.ugent.be/) and, as a poster presentation, at the 28th DGFF-Kongress „Sprachen, Kulturen, Identitäten: Umbrüche durch Digitalisierung?“ taking place in Würzburg from September 25–28, 2019 (https://kongress.dgff.de/).
